Nouveau Cirque du Vietnam

Làng Tôi (2009)

Làng Tôi, the very first show of the new circus set up in Vietnam, invites you to go on a journey and discover Vietnamese culture.
Agrarian traditions, popular games and traditional festivals are the sources of inspiration for the three creators. They draw from this secular heritage to create a show which mixes acrobatics, dance, juggling, writhing and balance. Bamboo, an essential material of the local culture, is all-present. The long stems are used as a base for astonishing acrobatics, where the suppleness of the twenty artists is nothing short of marvellous. These movements paint striking pictures of everyday life to the sound of traditional music - drums, hurdy-gurdies and zithers.
The poetic, merry, exquisite and sometimes serious, mysterious and fleeting images of Làng Tôi stick in our minds long after the performance.
