Nederlands Dans Theater II
Even though Jiri Kylian no longer presides over the destinies of the legendary company, actually made up of three distinct groups, he remains close by in his capacity of artistic advisor and resident choreographer. This programme is a vibrant homage to this great creator, capable of filling with enthusiasm lovers of classical ballet and contemporary dance purists alike. These three pieces are performed by the Nederlands Dans Theater’s second group, NDT II, which brings together young dancers aged between 17 and 23. It is a fantastic opportunity to discover the latest creation, bursting with intelligence and well-researched stage design, from the duo of Paul Lightfoot and Sol Léon, the other resident choreographers at NDT and both worthy heirs to Kylian’s crown. But of course, it is also your chance to see the latest piece by the great Jiri Kylian, Gods and Dogs, a performance which is in equal measure beautiful and abstract, fragile and clear, perfectly served by the incredible technical virtuosity of the young performers. It is an unrivalled triumph, encompassing both the freedom of contemporary dance and the demanding meticulousness of classical ballet.
