Toboggan/Décines
Michel Hallet Eghayan
At the time of its creation in 1982 at the Maison de la Danse (Croix-Rousse), the show Pour Giselle by Michel Hallet Eghayan was clearly emerging from the desire to revisit the masterpiece of romantic ballet, Gisele.
In a fantastic surge of vitality and creativity which saw French contemporary dance appear back then, the show enjoyed some very nice successes after Lyon - in Paris, in Marseilles, in Angers. Its recreation twenty-nine years later represents an enthralling challenge, questioning the notion of contemporary repertoire. Michel Hallet Eghayan works again on what he accomplished in 2008, going back to his show Retour en avant for the Biennial, and passes on the choreography to eight young dancers and especially the state of mind and body in which Pour Giselle was conceived. Proof that in dance, more so than in any other discipline, the moment is never-ending…
