Jean-Claude Gallotta

CCN Grenoble – Groupe Émile Dubois
L'Homme à tête de chou (2009)

In 1976, Serge Gainsbourg composed L’Homme à tête de chou. Thirty years later, Bashung revived this album with the aim of making a version of it for the stage with Jean-Claude Gallotta…
This show is the fulfilment of a promise, a dialogue which is perpetuated with the absent person who died of the disease and whose voice was recorded on tape. In this unsettling show, Gallotta juggles paradoxes, audacities and taboos with a delightful facetiousness to tell the story of Marilou, the trainee hairdresser. The dancers are inspiring and the choreography is lively, effective and stands out against the crowd: Pure Gallotta with his mad rushing, his jumps with contagious energy and sweeping gestures which take up the whole stage.
A very sensual, not to mention sexual dance, which conceals neither nudity nor taboos. But always with elegance. A dark and tragic, dynamic and rhythmic ballet. Living in spite of everything.
