Danses Concertantes Benjamin Millepied

avec la participation de danseurs solistes de l'American Ballet Theatre
Duo concertant (1972)| Steptext (1985) | Without (2008)

Millepied is a French star in New York: his reputation has been established over there for several years. In France, where we played a part in his rise to fame, Benjamin Millepied has already written two pieces for the Parisian Ballet de l’Opéra, with admirable restraint and technical ability. This idol of classical ballet with an angel’s face and a fateful name (the French ‘Millepied’ means a thousand feet) brings together here an ensemble made up of ten principal dancers and soloists from the American Ballet Theatre to present a first-rate programme. Balanchine’s unforgettable and timeless ‘Duo Concertant’ to music by Stravinsky, Forsythe’s extraordinary and brilliant ‘Steptext’ danced to Bach, and Millepied’s own creation ‘Without’ set to Chopin, a tribute to Jerome Robbins. Millepied and the ABT’s remarkable dancers are renowned, and deservedly, for their dizzying speed and masterful execution. They rarely appear in France, so make sure you seize this opportunity to see them. Some of the world’s finest dancers are here in this exceptional programme that is difficult to improve upon.
