Coraline Lamaison

Actress of Frank Castorf, Heiner Goebbels and Matthias Langoff, Kate Strong was also a dancer in the Forsythe company for ten years. Sharp and dynamic, doing battle with the demons of age and of a troublesome career, she tells of a life worn down by choreographers and directors in the show of Coraline Lamaison. “They all threw me out at one point”, she says in a very funny and distanced manner. This first self-portrait is strongly dramatised; it relies heavily on words, accounts and the first person. The second, for Annabelle Chambon, dancer of Jan Fabre, which has not yet been created, should favour body and movement. As well as the homage paid to these two eccentric performers, the production of Coraline Lamaison is coupled with an in-depth reflection on narcissism: from the original myth to the various meanings it contains; from its symbolic power to the imagination it calls for.
