Empreintes Massaï (création 2011 en résidence à la Maison de la Danse)

The shows of the Ivory Coast choreographer Georges Momboye are an ode to the creative energy of bodies and the universal rhythm of dance. He is able to perfectly combine the richness of African dance with real choreography and a rigorous dramatic art. Residing at the Maison de la Danse, he creates a new show with eight dancers and two musicians, which draws its inspiration from the cultural traditions of the Massai people of Kenya and Tanzania.
Georges Momboye wants to take the traditional Massai dance, an artistic exception, towards a style of modernity. The exhilarating dance of Georges Momboye stirs up our spirits and sets the pendulums of pleasure to modern times. He can sublimate bodies better than anyone. Empreintes Massaï: a fantastic choreographic concert of real beauty and homage to these people whose elegance fascinates us.
