Toboggan/Décines
Christian Rizzo
Christian Rizzo likes mystery and makes rituals out of his shows with exactly what is necessary for putting together bizarre plots onstage. Preferably love stories which are not told with words but in other ways: with bodies, objects, costumes, light and music.
In l’oubli, toucher du bois, the artist sets himself new constraints: more movement, tactile gestures (embraces, leaning, portés) able to create other poetic images. In the closed space of a large wooden box, seven performers attempt “dances of hopes for another missing person”.
With electronic music in the background where the composer Sylvain Chauveau throws in some piano notes here and there, the performers trace a number of paths dedicated to the ephemeral magic of oblivion, with the hope of calm to come and peace in spite of absence. An unsettling world, modelled after this unique creator.
