Far from being a great social leveller, the public place, for the company DV8, is a space where confrontations, disorder and provocation are waiting to happen. Here, the setting is a bar: men meet up there to drink, dance and make sacrifices to the cult of masculinity, the restless pursuits of those who prefer homosexual caresses or the plump figure of an inflatable doll.

A love film and a dance film, ‘Love Sonnets’, inspired by the Michèle Anne De Mey piece ‘Sonatas 555’, brings together seven sonnets dedicated by their dancers, whose rhythms follow the arcs of Scarlatti’s sonatas for harpsichord.

Dijon’s ‘Entre cour et jardin’ (between yard and garden) festival gives choreographers the chance to create an outdoor version of their work. This evening, we present three garden dances, the first  by Serge Ricci, then Toméo Vergès and Alvaro Morell, and finally Christine Bastin, Thomas Lebrun and Angèle Micaux. Three quirky performances full of humour.

The Maison de la Danse has always been convinced that flamenco holds an important place in the contemporary choreography world. In the context of the theatre project, on tour, organised by the Savoie national drama centre, the actress and producer Anne Alvaro directs five actors in the Marivaux play ‘L’Ile des Esclaves’. The film relates rare instances of communication established over several days between the artists and an audience that the actress defines as ‘enlightened’.

The (love) story between Brazil and dance is nothing new but it is hard to believe in the range of dances that get this vast country moving.
