Solidarity initiatives

Since 2001, the Maison de la Danse has been involved in the very first cultural partnership with Cultures du Coeur-Rhône, an association that claims that cultural access is just as important a factor of social integration as jobs, housing and health etc. They offer free seats at performances and mobilise their team to provide specific support to those who benefit from the scheme, as well as the opportunity to increase awareness of choreographic arts through workshops, video lectures and other encounters with performers and the dance world.

In partnership with groups representing the town's senior citizens, the Maison de la Danse offers free tickets to Lyon’s seniors for some matinée performances. We use the same tactic to forge exceptional links with other associations that encourage their members to take part in cultural activities such as Secours Populaire (who work with underprivileged children), la Flamme de la Vie (for children with serious illnesses) and even Compagnie Subterfuge (a company who create shows and cultural opportunities alongside young amateurs).

The Maison de la Danse makes it a priority to welcome a number of associations specialised in promoting access for young people with physical or learning disabilities, and habitually reserves tickets for these groups at the Jeune Public (young audience) matinées.
