Inbal Pinto Dance Company

Shaker (2006)

Snow in springtime! Following several years of absence during which they have never ceased to please an amateur public with simple, light poetry, Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollack return to Lyon with their latest piece, Shaker, which was inspired by the snowballs of our youth. A playful, joyful and colourful piece where the dance shows brief glimpses of Tim Burton and Chaplin. On a stage covered with thousands of polystyrene flakes, characters who are half-human and half-puppet, jumping-jacks and marionettes seem to have leapt directly out of a marvellous and disconcerting fairy tale. The sound track is a combination of genres – Chopin, Purcell, Gavin Bryars and Arvo Pärt, Swedish music, music from the fifties and Japanese music – and contributes to the creation of a very special atmosphere, somewhere between the recent past and the future in question.
