Cie Gilles Jobin

Double Deux (2006)

Gilles Jobin is without a doubt one of the most innovative artists on the European scene. His writing affirms itself from creation to creation, freeing itself from pre-established boundaries, flirting with the visual arts in order to increase its impact on preconceived ideas. This man who loves to put bodies to work, to model them and create landscapes of flesh and movement, proposes for the first time his singular rendition of the figure of a twosome. A veritable physical treaty that fires at point blank range at the romantic halo of the couple! Twelve outstanding dancers create, by multiplication and division, an organic matter that is in turn sensual, violent and sexual, at the centre of an empty stage as if it were a battlefield. The energy radiates, movement circulates and curves, while subtle sound and light variations envelope the bodies, launched as balls from a cannon. Jobin focuses his aim on intensity and heat, a dimension pushed to the extreme – until it consumes itself in flames. This is the burnout point.
