Christian Rizzo

L’ASSOCIATION FRAGILE
b.c., janvier 1545, fontainebleau (création 2007)

Maybe Christian Rizzo should be called a scenic artist? This is all about not really knowing whether he is choreographer or visual artist, musician, object designer or costume designer – his designs are veritable living tableaux, somewhere between a show and an extraordinary ritual. Caty Olive, in charge of lighting, and Gerome Nox, soundmaster and musician from the industrial music scene, have been at his side for several years.  Christian Rizzo is an unusual and talented artist with a strong taste for still life and a passion for high-heeled shoes, skeletons, spangles and crystals, stuffed animals and headgear that he makes dance in his own manner. He made the acquaintance of the very beautiful dancer, Julie Guibert, during the creation of a piece for the Lyon Ballet de l’Opéra in 2004, on the occasion of the Biennale and they both share the same wish to work together once again. Rizzo has written a solo for her, exploring the idea of slowness and designing a dance of outlines, like calligraphy might be.
